Mead #1: Raspberry Melomel

Location: BlogsDead Parrot Tavern
Posted by: jay.smith 3/5/2006 3:50 PM
1 gallon batch of Raspberry Melomel started.

Just started a 1 gallon batch of Raspberry Melomel,  I used the Melomel recipe found in "Winemaker's Recipe Handbook" with a few small adjustments.  I used 3 lbs of honey instead of the recommended 2 1/2 lbs, and used 3 lbs of raspberries instead of the recommended 2 lbs.  I hope this will give me a little fruiter sweeter mead.

David Dodd also started a Blackberry Melomel at the same time.

Hopefully these will be ready before the inter-club mead competition this fall.

The begining specific gravity was 1.080 so it should ferment out to about 11% A/V.

I was always told there was a pot of gold at the end of rainbows. It turns out to be even better than that.
